Clerodendrum trichotomum
Harlequin Glorybower

Description

Features:
✓ Makes a large shrub/small tree
✓ Beautiful, scented flowers in summer
✓ Striking berry-fruits in autumn
✓ Autumn leaf colour
✓ Low maintenance

This small, deciduous tree is known for its beautiful, perfumed flowers in Autumn. A mass of pink buds appear, that open out as creamy-white star-shaped flowers which really is a treat in mid-summer, especially against the dark green foliage. Later in the year bright-blue berries form, surrounded by contrasting bright-red calyces (like petals) that look absolutely striking! Leaves turn firey-red before falling. These trees are hardy but do require full sun in a sheltered position. They will reach up to 6m in height and spread so allow for plenty of space for this large shrub/small tree.
